NEW YORK – The Credit Union Journal was one of 54 publications included in the recently announced sale of banking publisher Thomson Media, a unit of Thomson Corporation, for $350 million in cash to Investcorp, a Bahrain-based global investment group. According to news releases, the transaction is expected to close prior to year-end, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The releases also stated that besides the Journal, other publications included in the sale are the American Banker, National Mortgage News, Investment Dealers Digest, the Bond Buyer, and a wide range of financial services, technology, and accounting publications. Thomson Media reports that it had 2003 revenues of approximately $170 million. Thomson Media has announced that it expects to have a new name when the Investcorp purchase is completed.
