CHULA VISTA, Calif. – North Island Credit Union has infused its training room with a little "island spirit." "The Island-themed employee training room is visually instrumental in introducing our new employees to our corporate culture and vision as an organization," said North Island CU Executive Vice President Member Relations Geri Dillingham. "It has a different feel right from the beginning and what better way for them to experience how our brand makes every interaction more enjoyable and memorable?" Approached by the human resources department after one of their brainstorming sessions to revamp an existing training room, the marketing team spent less than $2,500 to transform a windowless, bland room into a "tropical" paradise. From a welcoming surfboard and draped fishing netting to bamboo wainscoting and the North Island CU signature colorful collage of tropical San Diego scenes called "Polymorphous Paradise" artwork on the walls, new hires are instantly submerged in the "island" brand. With the brand in all advertising and branch networks and literally on every employee sporting custom designed Polymorphous art shirts and khakis as uniforms or "brandwear", the move to incorporate it into a training room made sense says Dillingham. "We're lucky our HR department wanted to try something like this," said Dillingham. "It was great pulling that room together and now it is such a fun and relaxed environment that the room is one of our most popular training rooms and it's constantly booked."
