ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators has presented the Missouri Credit Union Association four Bronze Quill awards for its communications efforts. MCUA Public/Legislative Affairs staff members accepted honorable mentions in four different categories. Two awards recognized the outstanding design for MCUA's quarterly magazine, Missouri Courier, and the MCUA logo, in the magazine, design, four-color and logo design categories, respectively. The logo was redesigned in 2003 when MCUA changed its name from Missouri Credit Union System. In addition, the "No Hats, No Hoods, No Sunglasses" robbery prevention program was recognized in the external communications category. The award presentation coincided with the one-year anniversary of the program's statewide kickoff. MCUA also placed in the writing, features category for the Winter 2003 Missouri Courier cover story, "Wearing Many Hats: How Small Credit Unions Make Them All Fit." The article showcased the operations of small credit unions and detailed the challenges they face. A record number of entries were entered in the St. Louis competition this year. IABC is a professional network of approximately 13,000 business communication professionals in more than 60 countries. "We are always striving to do the best work possible for our member credit unions," says Amy McLard, vice president of MCUA Public/Legislative Affairs. "It's good to know our efforts are recognized by the broader business community."
