WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Workplace violence is creeping into credit unions. Most recently two tellers at California-based Monterey Credit Union prevented a tragedy when they stopped a former employee who was terminated from shooting a supervisor. Despite such news reports the jury is still out on whether workplace violence has truly increased or if awareness that it can occur has just pushed it more to the forefront. A Society of Human Resource Management Workplace Violence Survey finds almost two-thirds of HR professionals report there has been some sort of violence at their organization since January 2000.
