DULUTH, Ga. – It could have been a credit union CEO or a director who won the prize, but the Christmas season became a lot more exciting for Cynthia Connelly, senior vice president of advocacy for Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, the $25,000/car winner of the nationwide Dec. 12 raffle to support the Credit Union Legislative Action Committee. “I was given the choice of $25,000 in cash or a Mustang Convertible and I am 99% sure I will take the cash and put it away for savings,” said Connelly, who bought $100 worth of CULAC raffle tickets at CUNA's Future Forum Conference in Reno last October “and then threw away the stubs.” Connelly, who has been with the League 15 years, the last 10 in her present job, said it was an honor and a privilege to donate to a cause and “an industry I serve and believe in.” Winning the money “is just plain luck,” she said, adding that eventually she expects to donate some of the prize cash to charity.
