ANCHORAGE – Denali Alaskan Federal Credit Union staffers are now "working the floor" of their latest branch. "We designed the new branch to provide quicker, more efficient transactions across a variety of financial areas," said Denali Alaskan President/CEO Bob Teachworth. "So we are taking people out of the `traditional' teller line to multi-transactional stations staffed by trained and licensed personnel who provide a variety of financial services." Dubbed "the branch of the future" it features a lounge area complete with cafe-style tables, computer terminals for Web access and chairs, free coffee, newspapers and magazines, and a children's play area-but no teller lines or offices. Teller transactions are made at open kiosk-style workstations scattered throughout the main floor. Members are greeted by Financial Services Officers who handle everything from teller transactions, opening new accounts and serving as loan officers, to selling some investment and insurance products. Even the branch manager is out on the floor- the four enclosed office areas are exclusively for members wanting more privacy. In addition to housing the retail branch, the new Financial Center includes administrative offices and two CUSOs- Denali Alaskan Insurance and Denali Alaskan Mortgage Company.
