PASADENA, Calif. – With recent media reports indicating that nearly 94,000 people under age 25 filed for bankruptcy in 2002, and that 86% of high school students said they learned everything they know about money from their parents, Wescom CU has hosted `Smart Saver" seminars. On a Saturday morning Wescom CU branch managers covered topics such as maintaining a budget, defining credit and the power of compounding interest, managing a checking account and maintaining good credit. To keep the interactive session lively rewards included ice cream certificates for anyone who answered questions. Over 80 kids, their parents and grandparents came away from the "Smart Savers" seminar much wiser about the "ins" and "outs" of credit.
