LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Colorado Financial Services Board will hold a public hearing on April 11 to consider the application it received from Credit Union of Denver, the seventh largest credit union in the state, to expand its field-of-membership to include all of Jefferson County. Credit Union of Denver already has a small community component in its field-of-membership that includes a small part of the city of Lakewood, which is located in Jefferson County. The estimated population of the entire county is 527,056. As of Dec. 2002, Credit Union of Denver had almost 44,000 members. In addition to currently servicing a portion of the city of Lakewood, Credit Union of Denver's FOM also includes employees of 13 U.S. government agency groups and units of the groups; some association groups; members of a transit union; members of a senior citizens' club; and members of a chapter of Colorado Veterans of Foreign Wars, according to Commissioner David Paul of the Colorado Division of Financial Services.
