BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – For the third straight year, the Southern Tier Credit Unions' Public Relations and Marketing Council (PRMC) took first place honors by raising the most funds during the annual Mom's House "Rocker-thon." For its contribution of more than $1,700, the PRMC was awarded a $100.00 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, which was donated back to Mom's House. Participants at this year's day-long event sat and "rocked" in chairs of all shapes and sizes to raise money for Mom's House, which is a non-profit, state-licensed day care center that provides free services for single parents who are enrolled in school, including care for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. At the end of "Rocker-thon 2003," over $6,300 had been raised. Since opening in 1988, over 133 parents have graduated from their respective educational program and many are working as nurses, teachers and physical therapists.
