WASHINGTON-Pentagon Federal Credit Union elected not to renew its membership with CUNA, according to its senior vice president of community and program development, Roderick Mitchell. Mitchell said officials at the $5.2 billion credit union maintained "the utmost respect and admiration for Dan Mica and all the leadership at CUNA." He explained that it was purely a business decision and that there was "no strategic value" in keeping up CUNA membership in addition to its membership with NAFCU and the Defense Credit Union Council. Mitchell emphasized that Pentagon, CUNA, NAFCU, and DCUC are all "family" and that the credit union has not turned its back on anyone. It's an interesting move given that Pentagon FCU President/CEO Frank Pollack was chairman of CUNA's Renaissance Commission.
