DETROIT- Research Federal Credit Union has joined forces with the General Motors Women's Club to host a seminar as part of the credit union's identity theft awareness campaign. "Unfortunately, cases of identity theft have increased both locally and nationally, now numbering the thousands," said RFCU President/CEO Catherine Roberts. "We want to do our part to inform consumers and hopefully prevent future malfeasance." With identity theft leaving its victims facing months or even years to repair the damage Roberts says the seminar is just the first step and plans are underway for other events throughout the year. Seminar attendees will not only be provided a helpful handbook but also a list of tips on how to avoid identity theft.
