BROOKFIELD, Wis. – Fiserv has partnered with FSV Payment Systems Ltd., Houston, to offer stored-value cards to Fiserv financial institution clients. The offering, called PAYCHEK PLUS!, includes card issuing and production, online authorization processing, settlement, reporting and customer service. "We've seen a lot of attention focused recently on the unbanked and the ability of financial institutions to reach that vast segment of our economy," said Pat Foy, President of the Fiserv Bank Servicing Group. "This alliance with FSV Payment Systems will allow financial institutions to offer a very attractive alternative to a traditional banking account and, just as important, remain a part of the payment process." Fiserv stored value cards are not just prepaid phone and gift cards anymore, but now include the delivery of banking-style services to the more than 40 million under-banked or non-banked people living in the U.S. Industry estimates for stored-value programs project card volumes could exceed $43 billion by 2004.
