WASHINGTON-The Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) is shoveling funds out even faster than they are coming in. In the first two weeks of October, CULAC disbursed $139,466.94, more than the entire month of July, and took in $106,698.57. CULAC delivered the maximum ($5,000) for several newcomers in the general elections, including Brad Miller (D-N.C.); John Carter (R-Texas); and Maxie Burns (R-Ga.), all running for newly created seats following the 2000 census. Also receiving $5,000 were Congressman John Sununu (R-N.H.), who is running for a seat in the Senate; Financial Services Committee Member Ken Lucas (D-Ky.); Congressman Mark Kennedy (R-Minn.); Representative Bill Luther (D-Minn.); Representative John Sullivan (R-Okla.); and newcomer Calder Clay (R-Ga.).
