LATHAM, N.Y. – U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), a member of the House Financial Services Committee, the Government Reform Committee, and the joint Economic Committee, met with officials from credit unions in New York to discuss pending legislative issues important to CUs in the state and throughout the country. Visiting with UN FCU at a luncheon hosted at the CU's headquarters in Manhattan, Maloney discussed bankruptcy abuse and deposit insurance reforms, as well as the outlook for providing regulatory relief to ease restrictions on credit unions imposed by the Credit Union Membership Access Act. She also reaffirmed her commitment to financial services reform and toured Saks Fifth Avenue EFCU and Entertainment Industries FCU. Maloney told CU representatives that she was "delighted to work for them in Washington."
