NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has named Clifford Rosenthal, executive director of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions to the Consumer Council that serves the city's Department of Consumer Affairs. Also named to the 12-member Council were Rhoda Karpatkin, President Emeritus of Consumers Union; Ronna Brown, president of the Better Business Bureau; Lois Aronstein, New York State Director of AARP, and other media, business, and civic leaders. "I am thrilled with Mayor Bloomberg's appointments to the Consumer Council," said Gretchen Dykstra, DCA Commissioner. They bring a diversity of perspectives and a breadth of experience" to the Council, which periodically meets to address a broad range of issues. "The Bloomberg administration and DCA have been very helpful to low-income consumers in publicizing resources such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, as well as spotlighting unfavorable and unscrupulous financing practices. It's a privilege to be able to contribute to that work," said Rosenthal.
