BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Credit Union League has undertaken to help the Hispanic Financial Literacy and Education Coalition. The formation of the Coalition was announced during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho last month. The coalition will work to educate Hispanics about financial services and how to access them; educate Hispanics about documentation needed for loans; to form partnerships with state agencies and individuals to help Hispanic consumers obtain identification and legal status; and to distribute training and resource information throughout the state, the report said. League staff will work with the Coalition to develop policy positions on documentation needed for opening accounts and helping link the Coalition up with the federally funded First Accounts program. First Accounts is a Treasury Department initiative aimed at helping financial institutions reach out to the unbanked.
