NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – CU Village.com is now offering vulnerability assessments. CU Village.com partnered with VIGILANTe, an IT vulnerability assessment firm to deliver the service. It will enable users to regularly conduct vulnerability scans of their Internet connections, and test networks for security weaknesses. VIGILANTe said CUs shouldn't think they're above attack. "Like all other financial institutions, credit unions are prime targets for cyber crime," said VIGILANTe EVP Christophe Culine. "Security threats are continuing to grow in number, complexity and viciousness. Credit unions can't rely just on passive security measures of intrusion detection, anti-virus, firewalls and auditing. They should perform routine, detailed vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of their networks." CU Village.com was originally a division of CUCorp, a Michigan CU League service corporation. It incorporated as a separate company in July of 2000.
