ALEXANDRIA, Va.-In a whirlwind of speaking engagements, NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar was scheduled to speak at the Kentucky Credit Union League's annual conference in Louisville, Ky. last Friday, after deadline. He also participated in a roundtable discussion with Indiana credit unions last Thursday morning. At his events, Dollar planned to discuss numerous pending regulatory issues, as well as NCUA's Access Across America initiative to increase financial services to American's of modest means. Additionally, NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz helped Florida credit unions celebrate International Credit Union Day last Tuesday. She applauded the accomplishments of the credit unions of the Tampa Chapter of the Florida league, but challenged them to analyze their own credit unions, strive to serve all members, examine practices to determine if their particular credit union operating was in accordance with the `people helping people' philosophy, and to expand services. "Credit Union Day is a time to reflect on your successes and to consider challenges for the future," Matz commented. "But in reality, every day is Credit Union Day because every day credit unions are enabling Americans to make economic strides and to realize their dreams," said Matz.
