VIENNA, Va.-NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz was on hand for Navy Federal Credit Union's 2002 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). CFC is the only authorized solicitation of federal employees in the workplace for charitable organizations, and while Navy Federal is not a federal workplace, it participates under the Department of the Navy. "One thing I found while visiting credit unions across the country, regardless of size, location, field of membership or SEGs, is the credit union philosophy of `People Helping People' at work," Matz said. "I'm proud to be a part of the credit union community and Navy Federal's 2002 CFC kickoff." Matz has been a federal employee for more than 20 years, including serving at the Department of Agriculture. Navy Federal has participated in CFC for more than 25 years, consistently exceeding their fundraising goals. Last year, Navy Federal employees pledged more than $275,000 to local and national charities, beating its goal by more than $40,000. This year's goal is set at $231,000. CFC offers contribution opportunities with more than 1,300 authorized local, national and global charities.
