WASHINGTON – Callahan and Associates combined two guides that it's previously published separately into the "2002 National Guide to CUSOs and Investment Program Providers." The 2002 guide features information on more than 550 CUSOs – wholly- and multiple-owned – and their associated credit unions, as well as several listings in rank order of the top 50 wholly-owned CUSOs by largest CU investments in CUSOs, largest CU loans to CUSOs, and largest CUSO net income. The rankings are based on data as of Dec. 31, 2001, as reported in the NCUA 5300 call report. The directory also includes case studies on four CUSOs – WESCO, Kinecta Financial Services, Financial Services Management Group, and XCU Capital. In the pages devoted to the investment industry, Callahan provides an overview of the growth of credit unions' investment programs; the top 100 credit unions and their investment services provider; a ranking of suppliers of credit union mutual fund programs; and investment program provider profiles. "Next to shared branching, we know based on NCUA 5300 call report information, that investment services are the second biggest CUSO area credit unions have invested in. So it made sense for us to combine the two directories this year," said Jay Johnson, executive vp for Callahan. Additional information about the directory is available on Callahan and Associates' Web site, www.creditunions.com.
