JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Bankers Association has filed an appeal with the Cole County Circuit Court concerning the state Credit Union Commission's decision to deny banks standing in Education Employees CU field-of-membership expansion. According to the Missouri Credit Union System, the bankers claim the Commission cannot deny them standing. Commissioner John Smith approved the application for EECU, now called Vantage Credit Union, to expand its FOM to include St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Cape Girardeau and Franklin counties, and his decision was published in the Feb. 15, 2001 Missouri Register. In March 2001, the Missouri Bankers Association and two banks located in EECU's FOM appealed Smith's decision to the Credit Union Commission. In March, the Commission dismissed the appeal due to lack of standing.
