Fiscal Credit Union, Glendale, Calif., has donated $50 Savings Bonds to 12 winners of the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce Children's Art Contest. The winners, students of kindergarten through 6th grade were officially recognized during the Woodland Hills Festival in the Park, where their artwork was exhibited for the enjoyment of over 7,000 attendees. This is the fourth year FCU has supported the event. Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union, North Wales, Pa., has donated 17 computers and one printer to Handi-Crafters Inc., a non-profit organization that provides job training for people with disabilities who live in Chester and Lancaster counties. Handi-Crafters will use the donated equipment to help teach computer skills. Arizona State Savings & Credit Union, Glendale, Ariz., has donated $7,500 to the Salvation Army to benefit victims of the Rodeo-Chediski fire. The fire has destroyed 423 homes across more than 450,000 acres. In just nine days, funds were raised through the sale of paper Arizona flags, individual donations, bake sales and a quilt raffle. Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Kingston, N.Y., has raised over $20,000 during the Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. A LifeSavers theme, chosen to promote staff participation and generate enthusiasm through playful competition and team spirit earned the 93 walkers recognition as "best team theme" during the relay. In addition, Mid-Hudson Valley FCU team captains organized barbeques, luncheons, raffles, car washes rummage sales and a silent auction to raise funds. 66 Federal Credit Union, Bartlesville, Okla., has raised a total of $12,214.38 for the American Cancer Society. For the sixth consecutive year 66 FCU served as a gold sponsor at Washington County's Relay For Life 2002. In addition, the credit union team placed second and third in the team fund raising competition. Team members raised money through individual fund raising and with several credit union-sponsored events including jeans days, ice cream sundae sales, bake sales, a spaghetti lunch, a taco/nacho lunch, a silent auction, and a basket drawing. In addition, employees purchased extra floating holiday days or hours. The event as a whole brought in a Washington County record $115,383 for the American Cancer Society.
