RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Bureau of Financial Institutions approved an application from Virginia League Central CU, Lynchburg, Va. to expand its field-of-membership to include Amherst County, Appomattox County, Bedford County, Campbell County, City of Lynchburg, City of Bedford, Town of Altavista, and Town of Appomattox. The $28 million CU's FOM will also include members of credit unions affiliated with the Virginia Credit Union League, CUNA, CUNA Mutual Insurance Society, NCUA and existing select employee groups the credit union already serves. As a result of BFI's approval, Virginia League Central CU's potential membership will increase from about 45,000 to an estimated 281,421, based on 2000 census data.
