PALO ALTO, Calif. – With all the bad corporate news out there it is no wonder investors need a super hero. Enter Kaptain Kelmoore. Created by Kelmoore Investment Company, the blue and yellow clad Kaptain Kelmoore's creed is "Defender of truth, justice and a balanced portfolio." "This is a new way for brokers to educate their clients about options," said KIC Senior Executive Vice President Tammy Heiman. "With this format we can take a complicated subject like option investing and break it down so that it's easier to understand and fun to read." The superhero's premiere issue, Journey to the Land of Calls and Puts, has an initial printing of 10,000 issues and according to Heiman it's flying off the shelves. In the story, Kaptain Kelmoore takes confused "Citizen Investor Jane" on a journey to the far-off land of puts and calls where he demystifies their seemingly complex ways. "We have many different kinds of educational material for our investors and this is one that strikes a chord among certain individuals," said Heiman. Given the success of the first issue, Heiman says plans are underway for the rollout of more comics. "The next issue will educate investors about `naked versus covered options'," said Heiman. "That's a subject even Superman would be afraid to tackle."
