MADISON, Wis. – According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal that looked at the financial performance among insurance companies based in Dane County, Wisconsin – which includes Madison – CUNA Mutual President Mike Kitchen's 2001 compensation was $1.2 million, up from $706,532 in 2000. Kitchen was the second highest paid on the list, behind Harvey Pierce of American Family Life. Pierce earned $1.4 million last year. Kitchen's compensation jumped the highest percentage among all of the insurance execs listed. A few of the execs actually earned less in 2001 than they did in 2000.
