ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has chosen acting Region II Associate Regional Director of Operations J. Owen Cole, Jr. to serve in the position permanently. The position requires managing day-to-day operations of supervision, insurance, special actions, and management services for the region headquartered in NCUA's main office in Alexandria, Va. Cole joined NCUA in September 1993 as a corporate investment officer in the former Office of Investment Services. He then advanced to director of the Division of Risk Management in the Office of Examination and Insurance in November 1998. At the same time, Cole also served as vice president/treasurer of the Central Liquidity Facility. Prior to joining NCUA, Cole spent 10 years at Riggs National Bank as a division vice president. He holds a bachelor's degree in history from Western Maryland College and an MBA in finance and investments from George Washington University.
