ELGIN, Ill. – Dennis Ahrens has been elected chairman of the Midwest Association of Credit Unions (MACU). Ahrens, who is in his third term on the Illinois Governor's Advisory Board for Credit Unions, has been a MACU board member for 20 years. He is serving his fifth term as chairman of the Elgin City Employees Credit Union. Ahrens was Deputy Fire Chief in Elgin for 31 years, before retiring and becoming Fire Chief in Crystal Lake. Ahrens is secretary-treasurer of the McHenry County Fire Chief's Association, is a director of the Northern Illinois Fire Museum and is vice president of the 5-11 Fire Club of Chicago.
