WASHINGTON – CO-OP Network, the largest credit union owned ATM network in the country, added its 814th member credit union recently when the $1.2 billon Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union (EFFCU), based in Miramar, Florida, joined. Eastern brings an additional 164,000 credit union members into the network and gives CO-OP Network another foothold in the Southeast. "Because our credit union was originally created for Eastern Airlines' employees and their families, our membership is spread across the United States, and that's why membership in CO-OP Network works so well for us," said Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union Assistant Vice President/Senior Manager of Information Technology Sharon St. Clair. "The ability to have deposit taking and surcharge-free ATMs in 49 states played a huge part in our decision to join." "The South, particularly the Southeast, is a place where we're always looking to expand our operations," said CO-OP Network President and CEO Bob Rose. "EFFCU, with its large influence in Florida, is a great addition to our existing credit union base."
