SEATTLE – At the recent CUES Marketing, Operations & Technology Conference, CUES presented its prestigious Golden Mirror Awards. According to CUES, the awards "recognize the most outstanding and successful credit union marketing efforts of the year." GTE Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., won the GMA Phil Davies Memorial Best of Show award, which is considered the top honor of the awards program. GTE FCU won for its creative use of a weekly contest drawing geared at educating the community about the credit union. There were 27,000 entries for this category. GMA Rookie of the Year honors went to Karen Root,vice president, Members Exchange Credit Union, Jackson, Miss. Root was responsible for MECU's four 2002 GMA, which included a series of television ads aimed at increasing brand awareness and name recognition. Members Exchange Credit Union exceeded its 2001 goal for asset growth by more than 20%. CUES received 1,140 entries in the 28th annual competition's 26 categories. Entries were scored by a panel of nine judges comprised of credit union marketers and other marketing professionals. The following is a list of the credit union winners in all 26 categories.
