WAYNESBORO, Va. – DuPont Community CU, one of the largest credit unions in the state based on assets, applied to the state Bureau of Financial Institutions to expand its community field-of-membership to serve the five counties of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge and Rockingham. In addition, the $324 million DuPont Community CU also applied to serve the cities of Buena Vista, Lexington, Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro. The FOM expansion will increase DuPont Community CU's potential membership from about 109,000 to an estimated 258,789, the BFI reported. The credit union currently has more than 35,000 members.
