WASHINGTON-Following anthrax-infested mail problems, CUNA still found ways to deliver its message to lawmakers. CUNA finalized its Renaissance Commission vision statements as news of anthrax in the Washington-area mailrooms and congressional offices was making its way to national headlines. CUNA Vice President of Political Action Richard Gose told reporters that CUNA faxed and e-mailed letters with further information on the Renaissance Commission to key lawmakers in Washington. He pointed out that this also had the effect of "personalizing" the message. CUNA Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Regulatory Advocacy Mary Dunn added that CUNA's regulatory lobbying team would soon be meeting with NCUA's top officials again about the vision statements. She pointed out that many of the changes CUNA is looking for could be handled through the regulator.
