Luetkenhaus began his career at the league in 2004 as director of government affairs and most recently served as chief advocacy officer. Before joining the credit union movement, he owned and operated a Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping franchise in Omaha.
“I am excited to work with Brandon and appreciate his extensive dedication to the League. His experience and leadership qualities are exceptional. He is well-known in the credit union industry and is a strong voice for all credit unions,” Robin Larsen, the league’s board chair and president/CEO of the $1.3 billion Cobalt Credit Union in Papillion, said in a prepared statement. “He consistently advocates for credit unions’ interests within government and regulatory frameworks, serves as a liaison with government officials and monitors legislation. I look forward to watching Brandon lead the League to new heights.”
Nebraska is home to 50 credit unions, according to the NCUA.
In the first quarter of the year, Nebraska’s credit unions posted 2.9% year-over-year asset growth and 2.6% year-over-year deposit growth, an NCUA report showed. However, membership declined 0.9% year-over-year, and loan growth was 0.4%.
