A rendering of the Waterford Lakes branch Space Coast CU plans to open this fall, the first of two branches it expects to open this year in the Orlando area.
Space Coast Credit Union said it is expanding into the Orlando market by opening two branches there.
“This is the start of a continued effort by SCCU to expand in Orlando with more branches planned in the future, signaling strong confidence in the Central Florida market," according to a news release last week from Space Coast of Melbourne, Fla. ($9 billion in assets, 683,193 members).

The credit union said its branches in Waterford Lakes to open this fall and Avalon Park to open late this year will create about 10 new jobs in the Orlando area, “strengthening its presence and investing in the local economy. The expansion will also support SCCU’s existing and growing base of more than 19,000 members in Orlando, enhancing access to convenient in-person banking experiences.”
NCUA data showed Space Coast had 67 branches and other locations on March 31, one more than a year earlier.
