In a powerful demonstration of the credit union philosophy of "people helping people," St. Cloud Financial Credit Union (SCFCU) and the TriUnity Foundation have awarded $95,000 in financial relief grants to 23 individuals and families across the country facing terminal illnesses.

The grants, announced last week, were made possible through generous support from SCFCU, Altra Federal Credit Union, Mazuma Credit Union, SharePoint Credit Union, and Cornerstone League. Funding stemmed from TriUnity’s recent giving cycle and the Light the Way Gala held in March.

“This partnership is a meaningful extension of the credit union philosophy—people helping people,” said SCFCU President/CEO Jed Meyer. “Our members are more than account numbers. When they face life’s hardest seasons, we want them to know their credit union stands with them.”

Through the TriUnity Foundation, credit union members can apply for support when diagnosed with terminal illness. Applications are reviewed by a medical advisory committee, and grants are awarded based on financial need, medical diagnosis, and family impact.

“When a member is overwhelmed by medical and financial burdens, a grant like this is more than money—it’s hope,” said LeAnn Case, board chair of the TriUnity Foundation. “These aren’t faceless donations. These are real people in our communities—our neighbors, our members.”

SCFCU is urging other credit unions to join future giving cycles and contribute to TriUnity’s mission. The Foundation, a DBA of St. Cloud Financial Foundation, was founded by SCFCU and now operates nationally to serve members during life’s most challenging moments.

Local individuals and businesses are also encouraged to contribute, helping expand the Foundation’s reach. “Every gift brings hope, healing, and strength to those who need it most,” the credit union said.
