To celebrate the milestone of 100 years of credit unions in Minnesota, the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) partnered with a cooperative Minneapolis brewery to launch a limited-edition beer called High Yield Pale Ale.

Crafted by the member-owned Broken Clock Cooperative Brewing, McCUN said the beer was “brewed by a cooperative, for cooperatives.” Cans of High Yield Pale Ale will be available throughout 2025 at credit union-hosted events, community festivals and select retail locations throughout Minnesota; a list of retailers stocking the beer can be viewed here.

MnCUN said a portion of the proceeds from the beer, revealed during a special event in May at Broken Clock’s taproom in Minneapolis, will support the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation’s financial literacy and empowerment initiatives across the state.

According to a statement on MnCUN’s website, the trade association chose to develop a beer to mark the 100-year milestone “because it’s fun, flavorful and the perfect symbol of what we stand for: Community, collaboration and doing good together. Credit unions and craft brewers might not seem like obvious partners. But we share something big in common – a commitment to people over profit. This beer is a tribute to that shared mission and to Cooperative Principle #6: Cooperation Among Cooperatives. It’s proof that when local organizations come together, great things happen.”

MnCUN President/CEO Mara Humphrey said, “This collaboration brings together two cooperatives built on the same values – serving members, empowering communities and creating impact. High Yield Pale Ale reflects the credit union difference in a fresh, approachable way. It’s a celebration of 100 years – and a toast to the future of our movement.”
