Damian Azimi, senior mortgage officer for the $4.6 billion, Folsom, Calif.-based SAFE Credit Union, was named Mortgage Professional of the Year by the nonprofit North State Building Industry Association during its 48th annual awards gala on Sept. 21. North State Building Industry Association represents more than 520 companies in the Sacramento, Calif., region. The group named him a finalist for the award last year and in 2022. Azimi, who joined SAFE in 2017 and has 25 years of experience in the mortgage and real estate industry, works with new-home builders in the Greater Sacramento area to provide financing for homebuyers in new communities. Award winners were determined based on demonstrating outstanding outreach efforts with home builders, home buyers and community members, as well as those who excelled at cultivating a strong record of buyer satisfaction, excellent communication with builders and industry involvement.

Steph Sherrodd, president/CEO for the $4 billion, Albuquerque, N.M.-based Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union, was named to The Top 50 Women Leaders in New Mexico for 2024 by Women We Admire, a publication dedicated to recognizing the achievements of exceptional women across industries. Sherrodd joined SLFCU in January 2022 with more than 25 years of credit union experience. Before joining SLFCU, she served as president/CEO for Texas Dow Employees Credit Union ($4.8 billion, Lake Jackson, Texas) from 2012-2021. She holds an MBA from the University of Wyoming and currently serves as a board member for Origence, LLC. Sherrodd was named to the CUES Hall of Fame in 2019 after serving as a CUES board member and former board chair. In addition, she served as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Community Depository Institution Advisory Council.

The $2.7 billion, Rome, N.Y.-based AmeriCU Credit Union hired Jenny Fox as digital marketing manager. Fox brings over 20 years of financial service experience, including knowledge and expertise in thought leadership, web development, email marketing, content marketing, social media management and M&A. In her new role, she will be responsible for overseeing digital marketing strategies, growing the credit union's online presence and tailoring marketing initiatives to deliver measurable results aligned with the credit union's objectives. Fox will also leverage digital innovation to enhance member engagement and organizational growth. She is a past recipient of the ATHENA International Award, which recognized her contributions to leadership and advocacy for women.

Joseph Tedesco, president/CEO for the $362 million, Oceanside, N.Y.-based Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union, was honored by the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO-LI) at its annual golf outing on Sept. 30. CYO of Long Island provides affordable, quality, educational and recreational services to more than 21,000 children every year. The annual golf outing hosted by CYO raises funds in support of its various programs, and each year, one honoree is recognized for their outstanding work and dedication to supporting CYO-LI's ongoing efforts.

The $4.8 billion, Wausau, Wis.-based Connexus Credit Union hired Casey Nichols as chief human resources officer. Nichols brings over two decades of experience as an SVP and HR executive, having most recently served as head of HR for workplace benefits for Bank of America. Throughout his career, Nichols has served as the head of HR for numerous business units, including global technology and operations, consumer contact centers, the mortgage division and wealth management.
The $2.6 billion, St. Louis, Mo.-based Together Credit Union hired Jonathan Roberts into the newly-created role of vice president of strategy and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB).

In his new role, Roberts will lead the credit union's strategic planning and alignment efforts, including harnessing the full potential of the credit union's diverse and unique membership and workforce to enhance organizational resilience and drive sustainable growth. Roberts most recently served as a senior analyst on the Future of Work team at Forrester Research. Previously, he worked for Santander Bank, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. Roberts holds an MBA from Bryant University's College of Business in Smithfield, R.I., and is pursuing a doctorate in organizational studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. In addition, he is a member of the W. Crimm Singers, a collective of professional musicians that specialize in Black sacred music, an active mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and a member of the board of directors for The Oasis Center in Nashville.

Strategic Resource Management (SRM), a Memphis, Tenn.-based advisory firm serving banks and credit unions, hired Leanne Lange as managing director within the Banking and Payments practice. In her new role, she will support growth initiatives and client services. Lange brings over 25 years of experience in consumer deposits and payments product management. Before joining SRM, she served at M&T Bank, where she specialized in debit card and ATM products and held responsibilities that spanned a broad range of critical areas, including managing network and vendor relationships, driving innovation in emerging payments, and developing strategies for consumer checking growth and deposit liquidity.
