Glenn Parsons will begin his first day as the new president/CEO of SCU Credit Union on Monday, the Sharon, Mass.-based financial cooperative said.
He succeeds James L. Carlson, who is stepping down after serving as the CEO for 22 years. He will continue to work for SCU in an advisory role until his retirement on Feb. 28, 2023, SCU said in a prepared statement on Thursday.

During Carlson's tenure, SCU grew its assets from $145 million in 2000 to $1.2 billion at the end of this year's second quarter, while loans increased from $115 million to $779 million and membership expanded from 22,000 to more than 81,000, according to NCUA Call Reports.

Parsons has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across multiple disciplines and holds expertise in technology software, network security, communications, business development and strategic negotiations, SCU said in its prepared statement.
He earned an undergraduate degree at Harvard University and received his MBA from Northeastern University. He is also an adjunct professor of business at Lasell University in Newton, Mass.
SCU's 162 employees operate 12 branches.
