Donating to charity Donating to charity

An Alaska man was apparently filled with the holiday spirit of giving after he robbed a credit union branch last week.

Michael Brian Jensen walked into the Anchorage branch of the $8 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union on Dec. 13, handed a note to a teller and stepped out with nearly $950, according to FBI investigators.

Jensen fled on foot and trekked to a nearby Walmart.

With the credit union funds, he spent $11 on cigarettes and a lighter, and $35 on a multi-colored stocking cap, a green vest and a black neck gaiter.

While he was leaving the store, security cameras recorded that "Jensen donated the change from the purchases to a charity organization outside the Walmart entrance," according to a criminal complaint.

Not far from the Walmart, Jensen was apprehended by Anchorage Police Department officers without incident. After questioning the suspect, FBI investigators recovered $901 from Jensen's wallet.

He is being held by federal authorities until a Dec. 20 court hearing.

Though Jensen has been accused of credit union robbery, he has not yet been indicted.
