Schauer worked for 30 years in the information security field serving credit unions and banks.
"With his passion for information security and innate sense for defending against hackers, he founded TrustCC back in 2000 beginning his practice of "ethical hacking," York said. "Tom was quickly recognized for his business and technology acumen and was awarded a Business Examiner 40 Under 40 award distinguishing him as a leader in the community. In 2015, TrustCC merged with CLA where he expanded his reach internationally and continued to make an impact with his deep industry knowledge and his fervor for security."
He is survived by his wife Nicole and children Amy and Alex Schauer and Jack LePage.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made memory of Thomas Schauer to the University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th Street, University Place, Wash., 98466.
