This past week, credit unions across the nation congratulatedemployees on their new positions and promotions. In addition, onecredit union CEO is named 2016’s most admired CEO by a localpublication, and the Defense Credit Union Council hires a newexecutive.

WEST

|

$1.1 billion Columbia Credit Union inVancouver, Wash., hired CaseyFilburn (pictured) as vice president of retaillending. Filburn is responsible for developing and administeringthe credit union’s residential loan programs and meeting home loanproduction goals. He will lead sales and business developmentactivities for loan production and manage the credit union’s callcenter lending staff, as well as branch home loan officers. Filburnbrings more than 23 years of experience to the position.

The $4.3 billion Ent Credit Union in ColoradoSprings, Colo., promoted Paul Kirkbride to director of businessbanking. In his new role, Kirkbride will lead a team of eightbusiness bankers who provide one-to-one consultative financialservice and industry-specific financial solutions to memberbusinesses throughout Colorado. Kirkbride has been with Entfor 14 years, most recently as a service area manager responsiblefor seven Ent service centers.

The $1 billion Oregon State Credit Unionin Corvallis, Ore., promoted TiffanyShirley (pictured) to the position of assistant vicepresident for risk management. The 20-year member of the OregonState CU team has moved up through the ranks of the organizationsince she started in 1996.

MIDWEST

|

The $1.7 billion Royal Credit Union in EauClaire, Wis., named Paul Roach enterprisedevelopment manager. He is responsible for leading the systemssoftware architecture, as well as designing activities that lead tothe development and implementation of efficient, innovative,enterprise-wide information systems and software solutions. Roachbegan with Royal in 1998 as a computer operator while attendingcollege.

The $2.9 billion Veridian Credit Union inWaterloo, Iowa promoted Mallory Paeper to branchmanager of the Edgewood HyVee branch in Cedar Rapids,Iowa. Paeper, a resident of Waterloo, Iowa, has been employed atVeridian for six years, most recently as a loan officer. She’sa graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and has a bachelor’sdegree in exercise science.

|

The $1.4 billion America’s First Federal CreditUnion in Birmingham, Ala., promoted DianaTapley to IT operations officer. In her new position,Tapley will be responsible for managing the help desk and willserve as IT project manager. She will also lead back-officeoperation processes and the core system. Tapley has been with AFFCUfor 17 years.

The $2.6 billion Coastal Federal CreditUnion in Raleigh, N.C., hired one employee andpromoted another. Mark Cough (pictured) washired as vice president of finance. Cough is responsible for theexecution of investment, borrowing, liquidity/cash management andhedging strategies for the credit union. In addition, he assists indeposit product pricing as well as performs oversight andmonitoring for loan pricing, asset sales and participations.Brandon McAdams was promoted to vice president ofmarketing and product development. McAdams is responsible forleading, managing and directing all marketing and communicationsfor Coastal. He is also responsible for developing new products tohelp further the cooperative, especially as it relates to cards anddigital payments.

President/CEO MarcSchaefer (pictured) of the $2 billionTruliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem,N.C., was named the “2016 Most Admired CEO” by the TriadBusiness Journal. Schaefer, who joined Truliant in 1995, wasrecognized for his leadership and contributions to Truliant’sgrowth and achievements, and building an innovative employeeculture that aligns with the credit union’s mission to understandand improve members’ lives.

The $182 million JetStream Federal Credit Unionin Miami Lakes, Fla., hired IleanaIzquierdo (pictured below) as its new manager ofconsumer lending. Izquierdo will oversee the functions andprocesses of the consumer lending department at JetStreamFederal. Izquierdo brings more than 25 years of lendingexperience to her new position, including in consumer and mortgageloans. Prior to joining JetStream Federal, Izquierdo worked forU.S. Century and SunTrust Banks.

The $453 million Connex Credit Union in NorthHaven, Conn., hired William Debille to manage theConnex Investment and Retirement Services program. Debille has 27years of financial industry experience, and will ensure CIRSprovides a full-service package that gives Connex members thecapability to realize their full financial potential.

TRADES

The Defense Credit Union Council in Washingtonhired Anthony R. Hernandez as COO. As COO,Hernandez will be responsible for ensuring DCUC’s overalloperational effectiveness and the council’s continued growth as theprincipal trade association exclusively supporting the interest ofcredit unions operating on Department of Defense installationsworldwide. He is currently on active duty with the United StatesAir Force and will complete his command on Aug. 5, 2016 and beginhis employment with DCUC on Aug. 9, 2016.
