It was a busy week for credit union HR departments across the country, as numerous new hires and promotions were announced in addition to three executive retirements. Plus, credit union marketing vendor WordCom hired a new executive.

Stanley R. Swenson, Jr. (pictured), president/CEO for the $1 billion Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union in Gardena, Calif., retired March 31. Swenson began his career at the then Northrop Credit Union in May 1979, serving as assistant general manager and controller. He then became president/CEO in May 1982, becoming the fourth and longest tenured leader of the credit union since its inception in 1946. Matthew Herbert replaced Swenson as president/CEO effective April 1. This made Herbert the fifth leader of NGFCU since its inception in 1946.
