"Immigrants Present Opportunities," Oct. 9
"…not be dissuaded by negative political rhetoric associated with them." Wow, if that is not a political rhetorical statement, I don't know what is. You mean the rhetoric of, "What part of illegal don't you get?" If these "immigrants" are here illegally, then they should not get any services that would be entitled to those who don't break the law. No one should be embracing those who are not supposed to be here.

"'They can in fact use matricula consular cards, which Mexican immigrants can obtain from their consulates, along with passports and Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers from the IRS,' [Coopera President/CEO Miriam] De Dios explained."
I'm confused – if they can in fact obtain documentation, then they are not "undocumented." So who are we talking about? The writer is being deceptive by not making a clear distinction between those who sneak into this country illegally and those who have a right to be here.
And if we're encouraged to do business with illegal immigrants, what's next? Drug dealers? Oh, wait – never mind.

Food, rent, property tax, car insurance and many other living expenses have gone up. Social Security is not welfare as we all have paid into the fund, many of us for 40-plus years. [President] Obama and Congress are free [to use] tax payers' money in other areas. Wages have remained the same and more people are on food stamps. America is slowly becoming a second class country.
