It's scholarship season once again, and credit unions across the nation recently announced scholarship awards that will help many young adults reach their goal of earning their college degrees.
EAST
The $787 million Educational Systems Federal Credit Union in Greenbelt, Md. awarded 15 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who completed the Academy of Finance curriculum. Erica Sandidge, Jeanine Arndt, Alexandra Harrington, Mary Cook, Nadia Williams, Blair Stout, Ryan Gonzales, Samuel Nguyen, Austin Wickham, Darren Zhang, Gabrielle Headly, Raelyn Arie Mcllwain, Jamon Fields, Emmanuel William Barrow and Riniya Countiss each received $500 scholarships.
The $467 million Quincy Credit Union in Quincy, Mass. presented $1,000 Scholarship Lottery Awards to student members Timothy Nazzaro, Catherine Manning, Sofia Lee and Jennifer Dunn.

The $242 million Dutch Point Credit Union in Wethersfield, Conn., announced that Lindsay Bluestein, Michael Boni, Harley Ann Bouchard, Natalie Charette and Emily Gunter were named the 2015 Dorothy J. Sullivan Scholarship program winners and each received $1,000. Sullivan was the former president/CEO of the credit union and its first employee.

The $510 million IC Federal Credit Union in Fitchburg, Mass., awarded five $1,000 college scholarships to Samantha Morgan Zick, Dayna Kowesky, Aimee Nguyen, Kayla Timmins and Ayer Shirley.

The $209 million First Atlantic Federal Credit Union in Eatontown, N.J. awarded $1,000 scholarships to four students: Carl Cazeau, Katherine Oksen, Norberto Rivera and Kaylee Walsh.
The $5.1 billon Teachers Federal Credit Union in Happauge, N.Y. presented six $1,000 scholarships to Zachary Harned, Gabriella Ledda, Tiffany Leigh, Hannah Parbst, William Reid and Brock Whitman.
The $157 million Members First Credit Union in Manchester, N.H. awarded scholarships to six students. Cameron Richard Verrier received the $2,500 Michael L. Briggs Scholarship, which is presented annually to a student who is pursuing a college education in law enforcement or criminal justice. Steven Lemay received the $1,000 Wilbur L. Jenkins Scholarship, Valerie Boles received the $1,000 John S. Walsh Scholarship, and three $1,000 Members First Memorial Scholarships were given to Taylor Jeanne Lachance, Sienna Mayer and Abigail Rose Snarski.

The $510 million IC Federal Credit Union in Fitchburg, Mass., awarded five $1,000 college scholarships to Samantha Morgan Zick, Dayna Kowesky, Aimee Nguyen, Kayla Timmins and Ayer Shirley.
MIDWEST
The $130 million Michigan Community Credit Union in Jackson announced its 2015 college scholarships were awarded to Hadleigh Buchler, Maggie Belcher, James Darby, Jennifer Holubowicz and Zachary Schossau. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship.
The $419 million Educational Community Credit Union in Kalamazoo, Mich. announced 21 students received $24,000 in scholarships. Eighteen $1,000 scholarships were given to Maya Ablao, Noah Aleman, Ashley Algarin, Holly Conner, Clark Crenshaw, Alexanderia Kiser, Katelyn Kring, Estevan Martinez, Nathan Miner, Trenton Monroe, Zachary Montague, Autumn Rohr, Havier Roller, Evan Semrau, Kalli Sternaman, Sydney Swope, Arianna Wilder and Austin Zeitler. Named in honor of two long-time board members, the $2,000 Robert E. Treloar Scholarship and the $2,000 Donna van Westrienen Scholarship were awarded to Daniel Christensen and Michaela Niefert, respectively. And the $2,000 Robert S. Hunt Scholarship in honor of ECCU's retired president/CEO was presented to Justin Penny.

The $1.9 billion UW Credit Union in Madison, Wis. selected six students, Mason Her, Ryan Kubly, Halle Lambeau, Lauren Lohff, Alysia Vang and Oskar Zarzycki, who each received a $2,000 college scholarship as part of the cooperative's Community Values Scholarship program.
The $476 million Notre Dame Federal Credit Union in Notre Dame, Ind. awarded eight scholarships to Sarah Brechenser, Alexandria Harmacinski, Andrea E. Keszei, Benjamin D. Weaver, Adam Haydel, Erin M. Jabrocki, James P. Moley and Deirdre A. O'Leary. Each student received $1,500 as well as a 2016 summer internship within the credit union department of their choice.

The $77 million Hopewell Federal Credit Union in Heath, Ohio announced Abigayle Paige Baker received its $1,000 college scholarship.
SOUTH
The $196 million Pioneer West Virginia Federal Credit Union in Charleston awarded $1,000 college scholarships to five student members: Megan Allen, Madison Messinger, Dylan Hatfield, Cassidy Taylor and CJ Oldham.
The $1.1 billion Achieva Credit Union in Dunedin, Fla. awarded $15,000 in scholarships to twelve college bound students. In addition to the cooperative's annual program of giving 10 $1,000 scholarships, the credit union also awarded two $2,500 Hugh “Max” Kriever Memorial Scholarships to student-athletes who will be majoring in education in memory of the former board chair for Achieva. The Achieva Credit Union scholarship recipients included Benjamin Bergman, Rachel Curvelo, Alexis Deveaux, Rebecca Dirks, Jeffrey Hadley, Andrew Jensen, Daniel Miro-Chinea, Meghan Sircar, Marina Walter and Santiago Yori. The Hugh “Max” Kriever Memorial Scholarship recipients were Jordan Curry and Kira Touchton.

The $496 million ABNB Federal Credit Union in Chesapeake, Va. announced Casey Bowler and Octavian Mazyck received the 2015 Jack E. O'Connor Memorial Scholarship offered by the state's Tidewater Chapter of Credit Unions.

The $721 million Shell Federal Credit Union in Deer Park, Texas, awarded nine $2,500 John Garrison College Scholarships to Raquel K. Freese, Perry N. Alagappan, Kelsey B. Fuchs, Megyn E. Gordon, Thi M. Nguyen, Kimberly M. Cross, Richard Wu, Joyanna A. Mazzone and Ally M. William. The scholarship program was established in memory of John Garrison, a dedicated volunteer board member of more than 50 years.
WEST
The Partner Colorado Foundation awarded student Alysha Benoit its first Seefried Award, a $5,000 scholarship named after the foundation's founder and first president, Sundie Seefried, president/CEO of the $286 million Partner Colorado Credit Union. Established in 2005 by Partner Colorado CU, the public foundation recently awarded $34,000 in college scholarships to 26 students. Since 2005, the foundation has awarded 191 scholarships for a total of $231,000.

The $788 million Altura Credit Union in Riverside, Calif. awarded $41,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors who graduated from Riverside County public and private high schools. The $1,000 scholarships were awarded by the Altura Scholarship Foundation, the educational foundation for Altura CU and three memorial scholarship funds.
