While watching "Family Feud", hosted by Steve Harvey, LAFCU staffers had an opportunity to cheer on one of their own.
Justin Tuck, assistant branch manager at the $594 million Lansing, Mich.-based credit union, and his family shared a once in a lifetime experience when they flew to Atlanta as participants on the popular television game show.
"The producers look for energetic families with personalities who match the comedic tone of the show," Tuck said. "Having worked in the financial industry for more than five years, I have interacted with many different kinds of members and employees. That training and experience made me comfortable with public speaking, communication, and listening, which helped as we participated in the audition and competition."

Tuck's wife, Jana, brothers Glenn, Rob and sister-in-law Amanda appeared on the show for four episodes before walking away with $23,000 in winnings. The Tuck family appearances originally aired in late April and is scheduled to air again Aug. 31–Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m on local WLNS TV 6.
"We wanted to compete on the show for fun, but ended up bonding as a family," Tuck said. "It was an exciting experience, and we were grateful for the opportunity, not just the prize money.
After submitting a photo and essay, the Tucks competed at a live audition in Chicago and were selected to compete on the show. Several months were spent practicing the board game version with friends and neighbors before being flown to the studio to tape a live show with host Steve Harvey. The family kept advancing and stayed on for four shows.
"Family Feud" continues to be one of nation's most popular television programs. According to Nielsen Research, it is the fifth most popular syndicated program. In 2013, TV Guide ranked "Family Feud" third in its list of the 60 greatest game shows of all time.
"We were huge cheerleaders for the Tucks," said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU vice president of community and business development. "Family and free time are valued at LAFCU, so we were happy to encourage Justin and his family during his time away from the office."
