Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union has continued to do its part to advance the education of young people.

The $1.6 billion credit union based in Brooklyn, N.Y., recently held its 15th Annual Scholarship Ceremony where it awarded 223 scholarships valued at $250,000 to students in Illinois, New York and New Jersey. 

“Since the programs' inception, 2,800 young members of our credit union have received support totaling $3.3 million,” PSFCU CEO Boogdan Chmielewski said.

The credit union's scholarship programs have been open to college-bound high school students and undgraduate and graduate students. PSFCU has recently added a Rising Star Scholarship program. Open to currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, the Rising Star is awarded based on an extraordinary achievement in the field of academics, sports, music, art, science, leadership, or talent on the national or international level. The candidate's application is evaluated based on achievement, academic success, extracurricular involvement and commitment to the Polish/Slavic community.
