When IC Federal Credit Union President/CEO Tony Emerson learned that financial assistance was needed to keep the lights on at Johnny Ro Veterans Memorial Park, a $2,500 donation was made.
"This Park is named after Johnny Roberge, but as his family will tell you, it's a symbol for all lost veterans, and is a reminder of those who gave all for their country. In fact, IC has been looking for ways to help all veterans in our community," said Emerson, who himself is a veteran.
Wanting to do more to improve veterans' financial lives, the $510 million credit union based in Fitchburg, Mass., unveiled a special financial service bundle after Memorial Day. According to Emerson, the Veterans Salute Suite was created to help give local veterans a break on loans, credit card rates and includes higher CD and savings rates.

The park has been undergoing some key renovations including four Field Crosses, one for Johnny Ro and each of his fallen servicemen, a life size bronze statue of Johnny Ro, commissioned to Bob Shure, bronzer, a new sign showing a legend of the park, a bronze plaque dedicated to the 1st Calvary, as well as other, much needed cosmetic work on the grounds.
IC Federal Credit Union branches have been serving as donation sites for the park renovations.
"A lot of people came to our aid by dropping off donations to me, the Veterans Center on 100 West St., or to John Roberge, Johnny's Dad," Diane Beaudoin, park president said. "We are so humbled and extremely grateful for all the support we have received."
