In addition to numerous new hires and promotions in all regions of the Credit Union Nation, several executives were recognized for their outstanding performance, contributions to the movement and commitments to improve their communities.
EAST
The $2.7 billion Tower Federal Credit Union in Laurel, Md. hired Rhonda Pierce-Brooks as its vice president/director of human resources. Prior to joining Tower, she served as the vice president of human resources for the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives.

The $626 million Leominster Credit Union in Leominster, Mass., appointed Matt Dufault as its assistant vice president of mortgage origination and sales. Prior to joining LCU, he served as senior loan officer at Mackinac Savings Bank. He also owned and operated Country Home Mortgage Corp.
Christine Malloy joined the $530 million Triangle Credit Union in Nashua, N.H. as a commercial lending officer. Previously she served as a business banking officer for a large regional bank. Malloy also owned Residence North Mortgage in Windham, N.H., for seven years.
MIDWEST
The Ohio Credit Union League named Tamlyn M. Straight Schervish, president/CEO of the $70 million Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union in Parma, Ohio,professional of the year last month. She received the award for her years of dedication to the credit union movement, her leadership in the community and her willingness to help fellow credit unions succeed.
Ron Collier, president/CEO of the $1.5 billion Indiana Members Credit Union, marked his 30th year with the Indianapolis-based cooperative. After launching his credit union career in 1982, he joined IMCU on May 13, 1985 when he was hired as training director. He was appointed president/CEO in 2003. Under Collier's leadership, IMCU reached $1 billion in assets in 2006. The credit union also received several state and national awards for service to its communities. Collier will be honored at an all-employee event later this year.
The $618 million Honor Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., appointed Ross M. Anthony as a branch manager. He holds nine years of experience in the financial services industry.
SOUTH
Maria J. Martinez, president/CEO of the $138 million Border Federal Credit Union in Del Rio, Texas was one of 12 Latinas from across the Lone Star State to be honored with a women of distinction award by the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce. Under her leadership, BFCU obtained CDFI designation, expanded its field of membership from three to 13 counties and implemented various programs that serve the underserved, the unbanked and young members in the credit union's community.
The $8.3 billion Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio promoted Jessica Ralston to assistant vice president of indirect lending. She joined the credit union as a senior loan officer and was later promoted to a loan manager's position. Security Service FCU also promoted Sjanna Bernal to branch manager. She joined the cooperative in 2007 as an assistant branch manager.
WEST
Robin Brulé, senior vice president of community relations for the $1.6 billion Nusenda Credit Union in Albuquerque, N.M., was selected to participate in the Presidio Institute's Cross Sector Leadership Fellows program. It is a multi-city program with the goal to develop leaders to meet the complex challenges facing society. Brulé was selected for the program as a recognized expert in cross-functional approaches to community issues that focus on economic and educational challenges facing New Mexicans. Through her work at Nusenda CU and in leading the Living Cities Integration Initiative in Albuquerque, Brulé cultivated cooperative and cross sector partnerships that shaped workforce training and economic development to serve the interests of marginalized populations. Her work has brought several national programs to the state, providing millions of dollars to support residents.
The $4.1 billion Ent Federal Credit Union promoted Chad Graves to senior executive vice president of operations and technology. The Colorado Springs, Colo.-based credit union also promoted Bill Vogeney to senior executive vice president of lending and finance. Graves and Vogeney hold more than 15 years and 14 years of leadership experience at Ent FCU, respectively.
Michael Boreham was appointed as manager for a Reno, Nev. branch of the $1.8 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich. He previously served as a UFCU assistant branch manager. He previously worked as a business relations manager and business specialist at Wells Fargo Bank.
The $67 million Nikkei Credit Union in Gardena, Calif. named Conrad Tan as its vice president of operations. Prior to joining Nikkei CU, Tan served as controller for $63 million CalCom Federal Credit Union in Torrance.
Bruce Altheide, vice president of wealth management of the $839 million CoastHills Credit Union in Lompoc, Calif., was named to LPL Financial's Patriot's Club, a designation awarded to less than 10% of the firm's 14,000 advisors nationwide. The award is based on annual production of all registered advisors supported by LPL, a Boston-based organization of independent financial advisors that services $465 billion in assets.
The $2.5 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., announced that Robert Eyler, Greg McGuirk and Jim Olmsted have been re-elected to the credit union's board of directors for three-year terms. Additionally, M. Christina Rivera was re-elected to RCU's supervisory committee. The volunteers were elected by the membership at the cooperative's annual meeting last month.
