Spring marks the kickoff of the annual NuVision Federal Credit Union Spring Toy Drive to benefit Children's Hospitals of Orange County and Los Angeles.
This year the $1.3 billion credit union based in Huntington Beach, Calif. has also partnered with Chick-fil-A restaurants in Costa Mesa and Santa Ana to serve as addtional collection sites.
As an added incentive, Chick-fil-A has agreed to provide free chicken sandwiches to anyone stopping by its restaurants to donate a new toy.
NuVision Federal Credit Union will be collecting new, unwrapped toys donated by its employees, members and the general public through the end of May.
“Toy donations from the community are needed year-round, not just during the holidays,” said L.J. Tarman, vice president of marketing/public relations. “NuVision is proud to once again support the Children's Hospitals of Orange County and Los Angeles as they help make hospital stays a little less stressful for the children in their care.”
Children's Hospitals of Orange County and Los Angeles offer group activities in their numerous playrooms as well as bedside activities for pediatric patients. They also help patients and their families celebrate special occasions such as holidays and birthdays in the hospital.
According to Tarman, while the generous toy donations received from the community are needed for children of all ages, there is a specific need for toys geared toward children under the age of five and teens.
“We would also like to thank Chick-fil-A restaurants for joining forces with us this year to make our annual Spring Toy Drive for pediatric patients in Southern California the best ever,” he said.
