Jeremy Cybulski, youth and community development coordinator forthe $508 million Zeal Credit Union, headed to California in March to tape anepisode on the television game show Wheel of Fortune.

The show came to the Detroit area in early summer 2014 seekingpossible contestants, and Cybulski decided to audition, accordingto the Livonia, Mich.-based credit union. The show's producerscalled him back for a second audition in August, informed him inFebruary 2015 that they wanted him as a contestant, and asked himto travel to California in March.

Cybulski's episode of the program will air on May 13, the creditunion added.

“It's no surprise to us that Jeremy was picked,” Lisa Fawcett,Zeal's vice president of marketing, said. “He's a credit unioncheerleader. Jeremy helped guide nine student credit union branchesand gave hundreds of financial literacy presentations andworkshops. You'll see him in our branches, in the schools and atcommunity events.”

“Being on the show was an experience of a lifetime,” Cybulskisaid. “It's tough not to be able to talk about it, and believe me,everyone wants to know, especially the kids at school.” The show'srules forbid him from revealing the show's results until after itairs in May.

Because Cybulski is responsible for helping young students inelementary and middle school learn how to get an early start onmanaging their finances by saving and budgeting, he may be facingmore questions should his TV appearance reveal he won money, Zealsaid.

|

While the long-running and popular TV game show attracted asenior audience during its weeknight programs, Zeal speculated thatCybulski's appearance might spike a higher rating with hundreds ofyoung viewers from the metropolitan Detroit area, the cooperativesaid.

“Unfortunately, the game show's winnings aren't tied to thenumber of viewers for each contestant,” added Fawcett. “If theywere, then we'd already know that Jeremy won.”
