To celebrate National Credit Union Youth Month this April,Affinity Group Credit Union has opted to take a ride on the wildside.

The $160 million credit union based in Pontiac,Mich. hasinvited the Metroparks Mobile Learning Unit to visit all sixSoutheast Michigan Affinty Group CU branches.

From snakes and frogs, to salamanders, credit union Kool Kidmembers and local elementary school students will have theopportunity to view, touch and learn during the visit.

“The Mobile Learning Unit is an interpretive outreach programproviding an opportunity for people to connect to the naturalresources and cultural heritage of southeast Michigan,” explainedMetroparks Interpretive Services Manager Jennifer Hollenbeck. “Thisprogram was specifically designed to meet the needs of teacherswith limited resources.”

The partnership between the Affinity Group Credit Union, theMetroparks and Affinity Foundation for MI Kids began in 2014 whenAFMK made available $3,500 in grants to the Metroparks. The grantshave provided opportunities for local schools to visit theMetroparks Interpretive Centers and bring the Metroparks to theirschool through the Mobile Learning Unit. In support of this grantprogram, members, employees and others have also been encouraged tomake charitable contributions to AFMK during the month.

The Affinity Foundation for Michigan Kids was created in 2010 toprovide educational and personal growth opportunities to Michigankids.
